NICA and TN HS CL

Saturday, July 11, 2015

It's about time for our second season as club team at Mt. Juliet HS.  Last year we had 4 riders and had a great time!  Three of the four graduated, and we are starting back as a smaller team.  Currently, we have two boys on the team: one freshman and one sophomore.  So we are trying to spread the word about the team and the TN HS Cycling League.

And NEW TO THIS YEAR: Middle school kids can participate.  They will have their own races at the events and are considered junior members of the high school teams  We already have one middle school boy interested in riding with us.

There will be 4 races this year.  Current schedule:
Race 1: August 30| Chickasaw Trace - Columbia
Race 2: Sept 27 | Herb Parsons, Memphis
Race 3: October 1 |  To Be Announced
Race 4: November 8| Saint Andrews School Sewanee

To become a member of the team, you will need to contact the team's head coach - Steve Capps.   You will be sent an invitation to join the Pit Zone via the Tennessee NICA web site.  Here you will sign on with your parents, fill out some information, print/sign/mail a waiver form to become a member.  You will also pay the required fees through the Pit Zone.  As of this time, there are no dues or fees to join the Bears MTB Team.

We have team kits (shorts and jerseys) and t-shirts available.  These are really cool looking custom items.  Look at the older blog posts below for photos of the guys in their kits and T's.

To become an adult volunteer, you will also contact Coach Capps and you will also receive an invitation through the pit zone.  Because kids safety is so important, all adult volunteers must take a background check prior to being allowed to be a volunteer.  We encourage all parents to become registered volunteers.
